This auction unveils a significant insight into the career of Hussein Madi (1938 - 2024), one of Lebanon’s foremost modernists. While widely celebrated for his later explorations of abstraction and the synthesis of form and colour, the works assembled here highlight a crucial, lesser-known period of experimentation, intellectual formation, and social engagement spanning the 1960s to the 1980s. 

The early oils on board featured in this sale, many dating from the 1960s, are of particular historical and artistic significance executed during Madi’s Roman years; as well as series of vintage exhibition posters, publications, prints, works on paper and canvas works.
