Mark Hachem Gallery in Beirut presents Coming Home, a solo exhibition by Lebanese artist Ali Al Husseini, opening on Saturday, September 9, 2025, from 6 to 9 pm and on view until September 21, 2025. Curated by Dr. Tony Karam, the exhibition unfolds as both a personal and artistic homecoming, an intimate journey through memory, color, and emotion.
Born in Lebanon in 1971, Ali Al Husseini grew up in a household where art and design were part of the atmosphere, influenced by a brother with an architectural background. His early fascination with colors and shapes would later blossom during his years in Kuwait, where he relocated in 1998. Balancing a career at Ooredoo Telecommunications (2000–2022) with a deepening dedication to art, Al Husseini trained at the Kuwait Society of Fine Arts, attending courses and workshops with prominent Kuwaiti artists. Over two decades, he built a language of abstraction rooted in human feeling, where every stroke holds the weight of lived experience.
Coming Home brings together works that reflect his distinctive approach: paintings where chaos and serenity coexist, where lines and colors become a language of belonging. Al Husseini’s palette is bold yet tender, his compositions spontaneous yet layered with quiet thought. They are visual diaries that merge the vibrancy of the city with the solace of landscapes, capturing both the turbulence and the harmony of life.
Curator Dr. Tony Karam writes:
“Between the chaos of the city, the harmony of life, and the intertwining of emotion and compassion, we find respect. Respect for what the artist feels, what the observer senses, and what the canvas tries to portray. Al-Husseini’s different style forms, all mixed in one, are like life itself, unimposing and serene, a true reflection of the artist’s pure soul.”
