Set during the 2006 Lebanese-Israeli war, Birds in the Rain follows a grieving mother as she searches for her missing son and has to confront her own buried past. A story of love, loss, and resilience, it explores what it takes to find the light in the darkest of times.
Rana Hanna is a storyteller who writes about the fragility of home and the endurance of the human spirit. She was born in Beirut, Lebanon, just before the breakout of the civil war, and emigrated to Europe when she was 12 years old. She holds a Joint Honours in Politics and History from the University of Nottingham and an M.Phil. in Modern Middle Eastern Studies from St. Antony’s College, Oxford. She currently lives between the UK and Lebanon. Birds in the Rain is her first novel.
