In this Place : Reels of Beirut

Welcome to Beirut, The Port, Downtown, The Hotel, The Cabaret. Text, moving and still images, posters – all in a small space that recalls the wider place.
“In this Place: Reels of Beirut” takes us back to the area extending from the port to the hotels, passing through the central business district, through the lens of five shorts consisting of a montage of scenes assembled from 50 Lebanese, Arab and foreign fiction films made between 1935 and 1975.

Mina Image Centre is proud to announce its collaboration with Beirut DC, embark with us on an outstanding Beirut journey from June 11 till July 20, 2022.

This project is in collaboration with the Arabimagefoundation Aif and in partnership with the Embassy of Switzerland to Lebanon and Syria.

Join us at Mina Image Center on Thursday July 14 at 5 pm for a Guided Tour with Hady Zakkak who will comment scenes and images from "Reels of Beirut" sharing his journey on this project and the motivation behind it.

Hady Zaccak is a filmmaker and lecturer-researcher at Saint-Joseph University’s Institute for Theater, Audiovisual and Cinematographic Studies (IESAV). He has created more than twenty documentaries about Lebanon and the Arab world, and written two books on cinema in Lebanon.

The exhibition remains on view until July 20, 2022, from Tuesday to Thursday, 2:30pm till 7:30pm.
