The Milky Way House

Du 29/04/2022 à 18:00 jusqu'au 27/05/2022 à 18:00

“The Milky Way House at Beit Beirut” is an art exhibition by Italian artist duo Antonello Ghezzi which will open at Beit Beirut Museum in Beirut on Friday, April 29, 2022 in the presence of the artists and the curator Maie El-Hage. This project is realized in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Beirut.

The themes of the exhibition relate to the power of fantasy and the imagination, and really the power of Art, to invent a new reality. For the duration of the exhibition, which will be from April 29 to May 27, 2022, the artists imagined that Beit Beirut would become the institutional home of the Milky Way.

“If the world were not divided into nations and the Milky Way, our galaxy, had a large office where all citizens can go to do their paperwork, this building would be in Beit Beirut,” the artists state.

“In the large building, as in the old offices, there are practices and actions to be carried out and works of art that represent our being citizens of a large galaxy, the Milky Way.”

“The Milky Way House at Beit Beirut is a multi-sensorial project with a range of artworks, including conceptual, emotive and public performance art,” the curator Maie El-Hage shares.

“The message of the project is clear; it is a strong call to help us see one another without divisions, without borders. We will feel united, in our humanity and in our existence.”

The Exhibition Opening will be on Friday, April 29 from 6 to 8.30pm. The artists will be present at the opening.

The exhibition will run until May 27, 2022. It will be open on weekdays from 10am to 6pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm to 6pm. It will be closed on May 1 and May 3.
