THE IMPORTANCE OF TRADITIONS FOR NATIONAL IDENTITY, SOLIDARITY AND SOCIALISATION

The lecture deals with the importance of preserving and living our national heritage for the resilience of our people against the attacks of the imperialists and colonial zionists invaders.
It analyzes examples from the Palestinian and Syrian experiences and comes to the conclusion that our national heritage can help to unite the people, refugees, expatriates, people with different political opinions around our common cause of sovereignty, independence and national integrity.
The lecturer is Heike Weber, a German researcher and practitioner who founded and directed the ANAT Centre for Arab Textile Handicrafts in Damascus in the early 1990s.
For more than 40 years she studied and observed the culture and handicrafts traditions.
She collected her research and long experience on embroidery in a book she published in 2022 in English titled "ANAT And Her Hero BAAL: The Embroidery Pattern Language of the Levant".
