THE DECORATOR

Scènes

Du 21/01/2026 à 19:30 jusqu'au 25/01/2026 à 21:00

Synopsis

When a decorator visits a Manhattan apartment to give a quote, a sudden hurricane forces her to stay the night with her client. Trapped together, the two women — strong-willed, outspoken, and worlds apart — clash over everything from taste in decorating, politics to religion. Yet as the storm intensifies, so does their understanding of each other.  Between the laughter, arguments, tears, and shared confessions, they begin to see that what unites them runs deeper than what divides them.  A lively, thought-provoking play that celebrates how honest conversation and shared humanity can leave both women stronger than before.

Natasha Tavoukjian

Natasha’s love for theatre began in elementary school in Lebanon and continued through high school in Cyprus, where she actively performed in school productions. She later took part in Armenian plays in Cyprus, further deepening her passion for the stage. When she decided to try her hand at playwriting, the enthusiastic response from her community encouraged her to continue.

Eventually, Natasha began writing in English, and her plays have since been performed in Greece, Cyprus, Dubai, and the United States. She draws inspiration from real-life stories, always striving to create work that resonates with and empowers her audiences.

Although her day job is as the CEO of her family business, theatre remains her creative escape.  Bringing The Decorator to Beirut—where her love for theatre first began—has been an emotional homecoming and a deeply meaningful experience.  Together with Tamara and Monica, she is a proud founder of W.E.T.- Women’s Empowerment Theater.

Tamara Tutnjevic

Tamara discovered theatre in primary school and has never left the stage. Born in Bosnia, she performed in numerous productions there and in Serbia before relocating to Cyprus, where she continued her work in amateur theatre. She has appeared in productions with the Anglo Cypriot Theatre, the Film and Acting Studio, and Women Empowerment Theater (WET), which she also helped found. Tamara was a member of the improv group Nudnicks and continues to explore new forms of creative expression.

Beyond the stage, Tamara is a passionate advocate for the rights of women and children, channeling that commitment into theatre that challenges perspectives and inspires social change. That conviction drives her creative choices and grounds her work with Women Empowerment Theater.  She is honored to bring The Decorator to Beirut audiences.

Monica Gavrielides

Monica Gavrielides (b. 1959) has been devoted to theater since her high school years, working as an actor, producer, and director in Brazil, California, and Cyprus. Alongside a demanding career in multinational banking, theater became her essential creative outlet—and her way to stay sane. Her cross-cultural journey reflects a deep passion for theater as a universal language that connects people through performance. Now happily retired, Monica is proud to be a Founding Director of W.E.T. – Women’s Empowerment Theater and is thrilled to be part of the company’s international expansion performance of  “ The Decorator” (Director)  at the Monnot Theater in Beirut.
