In the slums of Brazil, timid Máiquel (Murilo Benício) must endure the shame of bleaching his hair after a pal defeats him in a wager. Upon getting the dreaded makeover, he suddenly feels unusually self-assured and so invites Cledir (Cláudia Abreu), a hairstylist he just met, to have a drink. They run into trouble in the form of a thug, but Máiquel unexpectedly guns him down. Strangely, he is praised for the crime, and despite his objections, he finds himself thrust into the role of vigilante.

'The Man Of the Year' is a Brazilian movie released in 2003 directed by José Henrique Fonseca. It was nominated to several awards and harvested the Miami Brazilian Film Festival Best Feature Film, Best Actor, and Best Director, as well as the San Francisco International Film Festival SKYY Prize, and the San Sebastian International Film Festival Horizons Awards - Special Mention.
