In the framework of the 9th Edition of the Beirut Art Film Festival – BAFF, the Italian Cultural Institute is pleased to announce the screening of the documentary Borromini and Bernini. The Challenge for Perfection. Italy, 2023, 102′, Giovanni Troilo, O.V/Eng. sub. at Bathish Auditorium – West Hall – AUB.

Borromini and Bernini: The Challenge for Perfection takes a close look at one of the greatest artistic rivalries of Baroque Rome, between the architects Francesco Borromini and Gian 

Lorenzo Bernini, who was a sculptor, and referred to as the “second Michelangelo” after his master. Giovanni Troilo’s film clearly delves into what it meant to be an artist in Rome, then the center of Western art, in an era marked by a proliferation of up-and-coming artists desperate to leave their mark…

This screening will be followed by a discussion with Pr. Nader El Bizri (Sharjah University, via Zoom).
