Beirut Chants El-Sistema will be hosting the Washington D.C. based “Black Alley” band for a concert at the La Sagesse University Auditorium on Saturday May 27th at 1:00PM.  Entrance is free but on a first come basis.

Black Alley has been pushing the art of music to its rhythmic limits, determined to create a unique music elixir.  Black Alley has taken the finest ingredients of rock, hip-hop, and go-go to create their own genre-bending sound called “Hood Rock”.

Black Rock Alley has been invited to visit Lebanon by the US Embassy in Beirut from May 23 to May 29 and will perform in 3 concerts one of which is with Beirut Chants El-Sistema.

For this concert on May 27th , they will be selecting young members from the 166 musicians and choir of Beirut Chants El-Sistema orchestra to accompany them in this unique concert.

Rehearsals are to take place on Thursday May 25th and Saturday May 27th starting at 11:00 AM at the Beirut Chants El-Sistema rehearsal space at La Sagesse University Polytech Campus, across from the main University, building thanks to the kind generosity of the La Sagesse University.

Beirut Chants El-Sistema is a project funded thanks to the US Embassy in Beirut and thanks to Beirut Chants Festival with the aim to create a symphony orchestra of disadvantaged youth from all communities and struggling students hard hit by the severe economic situation in Lebanon.  The program follows the El-Sistema model of group learning and collective participation and promotes “Music for Social Change” as its core moto.  Instruction is by emerging Lebanese musicians who have been following the internationally acclaimed El-Sistema method.

We invite you to come to the concert and witness firsthand the power of music to heal and unite.
