At a critical juncture for Lebanon and its cultural scene,ArtEvolution,a project part of theTa’ziz-Partnership,supported by theGoethe-Institut Libanonand funded by theGerman Federal Foreign Office,aims to provide a space for the development of an activist, socially committed and at the same time reflective artistic production. It also seeks to support collaborative structures within the cultural scene, in which knowledge can be shared, experiences exchanged and impulses passed on.

ArtEvolution Platform, the last step of the programme, will be running on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 November at Zoukak Theatreto give the eight selected artists the opportunity to present in front of an audience their work-in-progress they developed. The performances vary from Dance, Theater, Audio Performances, and Visual Storytelling to Culinary Performance and more.

ArtEvolutionis designed to provide a young generation of artists and cultural practitioners in and around the field of performing arts with an adequate pedagogical and critical infrastructure to pursue their artistic practices.

ArtEvolutionstarted in spring 2022 and continued to fall 2022, and included a short-term residency, a five months reflection time, a series of public talks and mentoring sessions, a performance festival excursion to Germany as well as Platform, the final presentation of the artist’s works.

Tektoniq Plates: Reminiscence Bumpis a series of sound performances that are designed to document, anchor and musify our collective memories. Through electronic soundscaping and Arabic-spoken word poetry, the performance presents itself as a theatrical and immersive experience documenting and archiving the bittersweet narratives, memories, heartbreaks and dreams of the post-war generation in Lebanon. is a gender defying contemporary performance that seeks to share with audience the experiences of isolation and alienation once experienced by the artist as a result of toxic masculinity and the patriarchal oppressive belief systems regarding one’s sexual orientation and gender identification. 09:00 - 09:30 pm Melissa Ghazale

Incorrigibly yours /  لكحتماً

  a contemporary tragedy in the midst of the end times told by a voice without a name. This ongoing project is an extensive research around the status of the voice within virtual and synthetic spaces. It aims to decorticate the material/immaterial presence of the voice in theatre. Bta3rfo E-Meta?Three strangers in an artistic event. The only link between them: A vase. A vase that hits a woman in the head. Our characters are accused of the so-called crime and an investigation is opened. A Tale of the Shadow - ظل الحكايةThis research helped unveiling the way towards the realm of tales, fables and legends. After revisiting the stories that contributed to shaping history, culture and traditions and modelled our good night stories. Pink Noiseis the first part of “Sonic Rituals” a project on graphic and verbal notations; conceived as a performance-installation, it is an attempt to ensure the survival of sensory sensitivity in my today's inner and outer self. (Language: Arabic)

Fatayer bi Banadoura – Full of Tomatoesis part of a series of culinary performances shedding light on forgotten or unknown rural dishes. For the second dish of this series, the artist chose a pastry exclusive to her mother’s village, Beit Chabeb. It is Fatayer bi Banadoura (Tomato Pastries). (Language: Arabic)
