“No Title” is a comedic play written by Daniel Bou Dargham and directed by Amer Fayad. It follows the story of Louay, the son of a former minister, who has been isolated in his family’s palace for 25 years due to a medical condition. His only companion and form of entertainment is an old book without an author or title.
Louay encounters the people that work in the household and builds close relationships with them, learning about each of their stories. The play reflects on issues that plague today’s Lebanese society, such as domestic labour, classism, and political inheritance.
“No Title” is a seminal work at a heated point in contemporary Lebanon, forcing us to reckon with subjects that are often shoved under the rug. Most crucially, it raises awareness on statelessness, and people’s rights to participate in politics and live with social dignity.
