This workshop covers an introduction to intellectual property rights and the establishment of a business under Lebanese legislation.
On the First session, trademark, Copyright and Industrial design protection as well as conditions, prerequisites and costs for registration at the Ministry of Economy and Trade shall be outlined.
On the Second session, the legal framework available for starting a business shall be discussed.
The aim of the workshop is to uncover the different business structures available under Lebanese legislation and the criteria that play a part in determining which business structure to aim for i.e. (i) the size and the type of business (ii) the nature and the scope of the investment (iii) the liabilities deriving from the business structure (iv) the cost and time frame for the establishment of each business structure.
Biography: Youmna Makhlouf is a practicing lawyer at the Beirut Bar Association, holding a Master of Laws in General Private Law from the University of Paris I – Sorbonne with Master of Laws, Research Specialty: General Private Law with concentration in: Torts, Civil Law (Contracts) and Intellectual Property. As a practicing lawyer, she has provided support for several SMEs. She has also prepared and implemented several workshops regarding the establishment of business, intellectual property law and training for Lebanese SMEs on Drafting Anti-Sexual Harassment Guidelines and Policies within the framework of activities organized by several NGOs and institutions.
