TALK : MUSIC AND PALESTINE

The subject of the contribution of Palestinian composers of scholarly music: historical and perceptual paths to the promotion of artistic heritage will be explored as well as the role music played in the life of Maroun Tomb, who was the primary supporter of the vocal careers of his three daughters.
Fadia Tomb El-Hage will analyze her own musical path and the influence her father had on her.

Mounir Anastas will join via video-call.

 

Zeina Saleh Kayali is a musicologist, policy officer at the Delegation of Lebanon to UNESCO, director of the collection "Musical Figures of Lebanon" published by Geuthner, vice-president of the Lebanese Music Heritage Center (CPML) and co-founder of the Beit Tabaris art residency.

Mounir Anastas is the Ambassador and cultural advisor of the delegation in Palestine to UNESCO in Paris. He is also a music composer.

Fadia Tomb El-Hage is an operatic soloist. She started her musical career at the age of fourteen as a singer with the Rahbani brothers and with Fairouz. She is one of the very few singers mastering and combining the traditions of Western and Mid-Eastern classical music.
