"My mother's famous grandmother died asking: What if the locusts came back eating our aid and killing our children?" Jasmine, my grandmother, suffered from an internal hemorrhage, which left her mortal corpse after my mother was born. My mother Layla lived her life in novels and then I, at nineteen, disappeared like a grain of salt in the sea. And I'm called living without my son's cream. His daddy snatched him from my lap on his 7th birthday.
That's how we, the women of the Dali family: we leave, or shut up, or go crazy, or simply die prematurely like cherry blossoms.

We invite you to attend theatrical readings of the novel "Songs for Darkness" by writer Iman Hamidan and directed by Ruida Al-Ghali, followed by the autograph of the novel, next Saturday night in Marseh.

Iman Hamidan is a Lebanese novelist, journalist and researcher, she taught creative writing in several universities around the world, and was selected as a member of the jury of the Arab Booker Prize 2022. Her works have been translated into several languages and released from Dar Al-Saqi 'Fifty Grams of Paradise', the winner of the Katara Prize for Arabic Novel in 2016.
