Bassam Abou Diab and Simea Cavelti explored a choreographic journey during a five-week dance LAB with seven emerging performers in Beirut and Hammana. They researched the notion of a personal and cultural archive of the body through movement. This performance is the result of a process-focused collaboration between the choreographers, the LAB participants, and the musicians Paed Conca and Ali Hout. Unusual, yet familiar, gestures evolve to create raw and tender metaphors.
How can memories, our responses to chaos, and desires be embodied through physical textures, sound, and form? This project has been organized by Beirut Physical Lab and Simea Cavelti and is supported by Hammana Artist House, Pro Helvetia Cairo, Embassy of Switzerland to Lebanon and Syria, and private donors.
