At the onset of the Lebanese revolution, October 2019 a class project asking the students to tell the story of a street in Beirut took on an entirely new meaning; a meaning more palpable as they took to the streets. Unable to contain the impact and immensity of their experience, they instead transformed the project to tell their story of a revolution as it unfolded.

The graphic narratives in this book, started in late October and completed early December as the revolution raged on, are personal accounts of the revolution authored and illustrated by the design students of the "Alternative Comics" course; an elective created and offered by Prof Lina Ghaibeh, as part of the Graphic Design Program Department of Architecture & Design, Maroun Samaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, at the American University of Beirut.
