ABOUT MONÀ

Born in Tripoli, north of Lebanon, Monà’s early passion for dance and music awakened early during her childhood. It wasn’t long before she fell in love with Classical music and Tarab. Starting with Violin lessons, to Opera singing later on, to piano, all at the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music, her journey leads to her to Italy, the home of Opera, where she gets her Masters degree in “Canto Lirico”, or Opera singing from the “Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali - G. Briccialdi” located in Terni - Umbria.

She had the chance to attend some Masterclasses with renowned singers like: Adriana Morelli, Ambra Vespasiani, Vittoria Mazzoni, Simone Alaimo, Maria Tomassi and Luciana D’intini.
However, Monà owes much of her Italian vocal technique to the specialized educator and soprano Damiana Pinti, who showed a great appreciation for Monà’s talent, and provided her with generous professional support throughout that vital phase of her education.

Monà’s passion was not exclusively limited to Opera. She also took part in workshops and seminars held by the giant pianist and jazz educator Barry Harris as well as Bob Stoloff for both jazz singing and scat.
A very particular enchantment towards freestyle singing and Tarab was also inevitable, due to Monà’s cultural heritage and upbringing.

Some of the highlight performances she participated in are: the role of "Mimì" in la bohème, "Micaela" in Carmen, "Fiordiligi" in Così Fan Tutte, "Contessa" in Le Nozze di Figaro, "Salma" in Antar w Abla where she also had a solo dancing scene written especially for her.

While singing was her authentic passion, she initially thought of pursuing a more traditional career path. She graduated with a B.Sc. in Public Health from the University of Balamand - Ashrafieh, and then with a Master’s in Public Health at the American University of Beirut.

Monà is dedicated to sharing her passion for singing with others. In addition to being a professional soprano, she’s also a vocal coach and piano teacher located in her beloved city, Beirut.
