CHROMATICITY, ZEINA NADER

Art

Du 06/06/2024 à 18:00 jusqu'au 30/06/2024 à 19:00

Inspired by the vibrant chromaticity of the capital city, my abstract compositions aim to evoke the pulsating energy that define urban life in Washington.

Growing up surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of Lebanon, I developed a profound admiration for the interplay of light and color that refers to the natural world.

Therefore, through abstraction, vivid colors, and minimalistic compositions, I seek to capture not only the physical structures of the city but also the essence of its spirit – a spirit that resonates deeply with my Lebanese roots. Just as the red roof houses of Beirut stand as symbols of resilience and tradition, so too do they find their counterparts in the vibrant neighborhoods of Washington D.C., where history and modernity converge in a kaleidoscope of color.

I invite viewers to embark on a visual abstract journey that transcends geographical boundaries, weaving together elements of my Lebanese heritage with the rich mosaic of Washington D.C.

I look forward to inviting you, through my art, to a deeper appreciation of the profound connections that unite us, humans of the world, across cultures and continents.

CURATORIAL STATEMENT

With abstraction comes minimalism, not in feelings but rather in construction and in form.  The depths of emotions are usually better explored when abstract art takes shape over canvas to convey the purest of feelings to the observer.

Such is what Zeina Nader does and such is "Chromaticity" a feeling about cities, places, and a sense of belonging.

BIOGRAPHY

The international award winning artist Zeina Nader was born in Lebanon. She graduated from the Saint Joseph University in Beirut with a degree in Communication Arts.

Instead of pursuing her promising career in the fields of theatre, cinema and photography, she chose to adopt her initial love and passion: painting and writing.

She indeed believes that all arts communicate.

Zeina exhibited her work, in solos, duos and collectives, all around the world in cities such as New York, Tokyo, Paris, London, Madrid, Milan, Monaco, Copenhagen and Bruges to name a few. She celebrated in 2022, her hundredth exhibition, which took place in Barcelona.

She is also an author and published four books about her art and travels. She is an art columnist at the international media: Ici.Beyrouth (in French) and This is Beirut (in English).

She speaks 5 languages and teaches art for students of all ages.

One of her large masterpieces (Acrylic on canvas, 150 cm x 150 cm), was officially acquired in 2021 by the Peoria Riverfront Museum in the USA to take part of their permanent collection.

Another painting (Acrylic on jute, 200 cm x 100 cm), was acquired in 2023 by the London School of Economics in UK, to be displayed among their permanent public art collection. Her two art books are also now part of the public library of the same university.

And recently in December 2023, a 300 x 200 cm painting was permanently acquired by the Ritz-Carlton DIFC in Dubai to be displayed in their main entrance lobby.

Other artworks painted by Zeina are among several public and private collections, in Lebanese embassies and in the Presidential Palace in Lebanon.

To Zeina Nader, life itself is the greatest artwork to ever exist.
