The 26th issue of the UNDP Peacebuilding in Lebanon news supplement shed light on the drastic impacts of Covid-19, Beirut Blast, and the economic situation on the creative industry in Lebanon.

The cultural and cinematic productions in Lebanon were often directed towards an act of resistance against war, violence, struggle, conflict, and inequalities. However, since 2019, and due to the multi-faceted crisis, productions dropped back, some artists left the country, some institutions closed their doors, while others are struggling to make ends meet.
Our live discussion will shed light on the future of the Lebanese cinema in those challenging times. How will it continue to achieve its mission in promoting peace, inter-regional dialogue, contemporary debate and #BuildingLebanonForward?

The webinar will focus on how the Lebanese film industry has been affected by the unprecedented crises.

The first panel on Thursday May 20, will discuss the wider challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, the economic crisis, and Beirut Blast on the production of films in Lebanon. It will include perspectives on the impact of the pandemic on the German Film Industry. It will also highlight some good practices and ways forward.
